Ever a woman of ambition, Keltwyda Keltzhyrtwyn seeks fortune and renown in all she does. Her wanderlust has taken her to a great many locales, and she is always sure to bring any materials of interest home. With these materials, she creates, modifies, and develops new armaments and trinkets to sell from her personal business. She founded the (free) company "WoLMart" with her closest friends.Raised in the lap of luxury in her youth and spending her young adult years as both a pirate and Maelstrom officer, Keltwyda possesses a unique and sometimes contradictory perspective and personality. At times, Kel may act posh, refined, and dignified; at others, she can be surly, pragmatic, and crass.

To Forge one's own path

The only daughter and inheritor to the well regarded wine enterprise of Krysswyb and her husband Keltjarr, Keltwyda spent her early years in comfort. The Kelt Vineyards are well renowned in the Wineport region, and the Kelt family was seen by the community as something akin to local nobility.Between professional training and her own physical disposition, Keltwyda was a prodigy with a bow from a young age. Despite her parents' protests, Archery was a passion that Kel chose for herself, making it all the more special to her. Keltwyda would further prove herself with a bow by competing in numerous archery competitions amongst the other children of affluent families, finding little competition amongst them. Even when competing with adult competitors, she was found to be unnaturally capable of outperforming them.Despite her comfortable upbringing, a longing for adventure and glory took root in the young Keltwyda's heart. She came to resent her birthright, feeling she was doomed to take up the family business, and continue to cling to the coattails of her parents. No wealth, renown, or achievements would be her own to claim, and she'd live under the cloud of nepotism for her entire life. This, combined with her longing for adventure, would eventually drive her to take her bow, and silently slip away from the family estate in the dark of night.

seeking one's fortune

Now a runaway, Keltwyda journied to Limsa Lominsa. She managed to survive as a petty thief on the streets for nearly two years, until a fateful encounter in a tavern. In a dark, dingy tavern of ill repute, Kel was caught attempting to pick the pocket of a pirate on shore leave. Before they could drag her away, she managed to break her bow upon the head of one pirate, and give the other a black eye. She was brought before Captain Saulette of the Veiled Mistress, for judgement on her trangsressions against her crew. Rather than punish her, Saulette admired Keltwyda's gumption, and decided to "volunteer" her into service, to repay her debt.Starting out as a swabbie, Keltwyda would spend the next year or so toiling away on the deck of the Veiled Mistress, until she was taken under the wing of the ship's boatswain. She quickly showed proficiency with gear repair, upkeep, and upgrading. Keltwyda would eventually take on the boatswain mantle when her predecessor passed, and served the crew of the Veiled Mistress for two more years in this post.

ultimatums and opportunities

Keltwyda's time serving aboard the Veiled Mistress would meet and abrupt end when set upon by the Maelstrom; helmed by the soon-to-be Chief Admiral Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn. The ship was a wreck in mere moments, with cannons tearing through the ship, resulting in the loss of Kel's left eye. Keltwyda was dragged up to the deck, along with the surviving crew members to be given an ultimatum: join the Maelstrom to serve under Merlwyb, or die a pirate.Much like her now former crewmates, Keltwyda had little interest in serving the Maelstrom's interests. Perhaps, had it been anybody else giving her this choice, she'd have even chosen death. Fate, it seems, had placed Merlwyb before her, and Keltwyda was immediately stricken by her authority and strength. Call it love, admiration, or zealotry-Kel joined the Maelstrom if it meant she could follow and serve the woman who took her eye, as well as her heart.Keltwyda would serve in the Maelstrom for several years, reaching the rank of First Lieutenant by the end of her service. During this time, she honed her skills with firearms, once again showing a unique aptitude for sharpshooting-no matter the weapon used. She developed a particular bond with the Frostwyrms-a couple both serving the Maelstrom, along with their adoptive daughter, Lynn-during this period of time.Still yearning for adventure and glory of her own-and realizing that Merlwyb had no intention of returning her affection-Keltwyda decided to leave the Maelstrom. Under the guise of a leave of absence, she set out to Gridania, armed with a bow.
